The party decided to not sensessely slaughter Shealis Amlauril and her guards in the Elvish Ghetto Hideout and instead talk to her and convince her of their sincere interest in stopping the Ragesians. In the end they had to decide between the elves (“We need all the help and weapons we can get once the Ragesians will attack us directly, so we need whatever is in the case”) and Torrent speaking for the Gate Pass Resistance (“We want to stop the war and bringing the case to the neutral Mages in the ”/wikis/lyceum" class=“wiki-page-link”> Lyceum may well be our only hope.").
Ultimately, the characters felt that supporting the resistance aligned well enough with the elvish interests and managed to convince Shealis to let them have the case.
After failing to open the case, they crafted something with wood and magic that convinced the voice outside (which turned out to be an Imp) that had initially helped them in return for the case.
Gate Pass had by then been shut down and it became known that the town leaders decided to let the Inquisitors in and cooperate, hoping that this would appease the ragesians and stop the fighting. So the question came up, how to get out of the city. Lyvtenanna remembered that she had bought various items from a Merchant named Erdan Menash, who is also part of the council. When talking to him in his house / shop full of bizzare and memorable weapons and armor he did indeed agree to help and pointed the party to guard Captain Herreman, giving them two sets of council orders for Herreman.
On their way to the barracks the party encountered some city guards, who intended to apprehend Kendra and Flint Darkstaff on grounds of suspicion of being magic-users; something quickly revealed to be true when the party resisted and fought the guards. Only a few rounds into the fight another set of guards approached, this one guarding a horse-drawn cage-on-wheels with captured ragesian soldiers.
The initial guards had lost all ambition to deal with the party, who continued on their way to the barracks.
Before they finally got there, they met a somewhat showy human by the name of Rantle, someone known to Grayson VanderStone as a rogue know to have a strong code of honor. Rantle ask the party for help, giving them a letter for his sister, and a scroll of Fireball that she had given him earlier. He asked them to deliver this to Katrina, who he believes traveled to the Lyceum.
As the session closed, the heroes left the city through a southern gate accompanied by Captain Herreman, resting for the first time since the initial attack in a former watch tower south of town.
