Grayson was strangely missing this time, perhaps off on a little rogue mission of his own. The party decided to use his horse Haribo, so that Lyv didn’t have to ride with Kendra any longer. After speaking with Torrent about their options, the party opted to go the shorter way around, which meant traversing the burning forest of Innenotdar. On the ride there while going into a valley, Kendra’s horse was spooked by some thunderclap like sounds to the rear of the party, spurring the horse to ride too fast. Laini attempted to catch the reigns and managed, but could not gain control of the horse and had to release it. Flint‘s horse was then hit by a crossbow, which spooked it as well, sending it chasing after Kendra. Shortly after there was a sounding of horns, and Lyv spotted the men shooting the crossbows. Unfortunately Haribo was hit, and while Lyv did a bit of a stunt to get off the flailing horse, it then ran off in the opposite direction of Flint and Kendra. After a short battle, ending with several of the Black Horse Bandana bounty hunters flat on their backs thanks to Flint’s grease and a few of them killed thanks to Lyv and Laini‘s overeagerness, they were told there were more ahead. Re-finding Flint and Kendra’s wayward horses, they pressed on without another incident.
At the edge of the burning forest, spotting a cabin with a barn, standing outside was a young woman who (ooc we realize is a seer) spoke to them a sort of ‘prophecy’ – “ The scourge comes, the skulls of the dragon pursue you. I saw it in a dream….” and then invited them inside for the night, Laini wary of it but not wishing to break up the party. Once inside, Flint and Kendra discovered the house itself was magical, as well as a Great Hammer displayed on the wall. The daughter, Crystin, wished to come along with the party and bring her father along as well. Through a confusing bit of conversation, the father, Haddin, spoke of being a great wizard and having no fear of the Inquisitors. Not long after those words were out of his mouth, they heard yelling from outside, stating the house was surrounded. While everyone else looked around to assess the situation, Lyv charged forward, startling the three Inquisitors who were advancing on the front door. Another fight ensued, this time much more bloodthirsty. Laini’s arrows seemed to deflect harmlessly off the leader, an Orc who wore a bear head hat, but he was no match for Lyv’s Great Axe. Accompanying the party surrounding the house were two goblins, and a giant sized human, the giant going under a spell of Haddin’s and, for the time, helping the party to dispatch the Inquisitors. With Flint’s spells and Lyv’s rage, the leader was taken down with a bit of a fight, the others gotten rid of rather quickly save one, who ran off to keep his hide intact. The remaining bodies were looted, treasure from them distributed to whomever needed it, and the party was given another reprieve, though how brief or not it was we shall soon see.
